Trooper Commandos have many different skills they can choose from when healing or doing DPS. Troopers have to carefully manage ammo for to be able to maximize their ability to heal or DPS. What skills you use and when are key to how efficiently you play your class.
A little bit about ammo, you have you can use to use your skills but once you use ammo it takes a while to come back and the less ammo you have the longer it takes to regenerate. What you will want to do is carefully manage your ammo to keep your regeneration rate always at its peak. What abilities you use will heavily depend on your ammo supply, on what things have proc'd, what is off of cooldown, and what is going on in a battle. The one thing you do not want to do is make yourself useless by having very little ammo.
Single Target Rotation:
Sticky Grenade (whenever this falls off recast)
Power Serge(if available) then Fusion Missle
3x Grav Round
Full Auto (if Curtain of Fire proc'd)
2x Grav Round
High Impact Boltwhen at 5 stacks from Grav Round)
Remember heat is all imporant to manage your ammo, remember to use Hammer Shot as a filler whenever casting anything else will take your ammo under 8.
Single Target Rotation:
Grav Round(till 5 stacks of gravity well/5stacks charged barrel)
Demolition Round(when target has 5 stacks of Gravity Well)
High Impact Bolt(when there is 5 stacks of Charged Barrel, using High Impact Bolt will use up charges)
-Anytime Curtain of Fire procs use Full Auto
-Use Hammer Shot whenever casting something else will take you under 8 ammo. The key as always is ammo management.
-Use your cooldowns.
Once again ammo is one of the main factors you have to take into account as commando when healing. The higher your heat gets the less effective you will be at healing over time. Try to keep it as low as possible during a fight but if you have to heal a lot in a short period of time to keep the group or tank up then remember to use your cooldowns to manage your heat.
Hammer Shot - You should be using this whenever you are not doing something else, it builds up your stacks for Supercharge Cells, each time you use it to heal it uses 0 ammo, this is your main filler.
Kolto Bomb(for buff) > Advanced Medical Probe > Medical Probe
Without another healer to provide the armor buff, Advanced Medical Probe needs to be cast on the tank on cooldown regardless of if he needs heals or not. If you're in an OP with a healing sorc, then don't worry about it.
For Heavy Single Target Healing:
Supercharge Cells | Advanced Medical Probe > Medical Probe > Advanced Medical Probe > Medical Probe > Advanced Medical Probe > Medical Probe
For Heavy Group Healing:
Supercharge Cells | Kolto Bomb > Advanced Medical Probe > Medical Probe > Advanced Medical Probe > Kolto Bomb > Medical Probe
Filler/Ammo Regeneration Tools:
Bacta Infusion > Reapplying Trauma Probe > Hammer Shot
Combat Support Cylinder Stack Building:
Medical Probe > Hammer Shot
If you're at or close to 0 ammo, you should build stacks with Medical Probe, not Hammer Shot.
Things to remember as a merc healer:
Ammo management is key. Try to keep your ammo between 8-12 on a regular basis but durring points where you have to heal more don't panic this is what your cooldowns are for. You can use your ammo regeneration cooldowns to allow you to regenerate ammo when supplies get to 7 and you don't think you will have a chance to slow down your healing.
If you know a damage spike is coming be prepaired for it by having your ammo as cloase to 12 as posible and having your ammo regenerate cooldowns available. If no spike is coming use your heals to build up your stacks for Supercharge Cells, remember Medical Probe builds stacks faster than just Hammer Shot but it generates reduces ammo so remember to this into account.
Now for buffs, keep use Advanced Medical Probe on tank whenever it is off of cooldown and also keep up Kolto Bomb on tank for the 10% healing on them. Commandos have the worst method of keeping the armor buff up.
Use your cooldowns.
- Supercharge Cells - trigers a global cooldown but you can activate it during one. Consider using it after Bacta Infusion, Bacta Shield, or Hammer Shot(something that is going to use ammo) as Supercharge Gas increases ammo. Use it on cooldown or durring high damage phases of fights.
- Thermal Sensor Override (heat reduction talent).
- Power Surge + Medical Probe on cooldown when needed.
